04 — Getting to Athens
Athens is served by Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” (ATH), approximately 30 km from the city centre.

By taxi
Taxis are available 24/7 from the designated rank at Exit 3 of the Arrivals Level. A flat fare applies between the airport and the Athens city-centre inner ring: €40 during daytime hours (05:00–24:00) and €55 during nighttime hours (00:00–05:00). The flat fare includes all applicable surcharges and extras.

By metro
Metro Line 3 (Blue Line) connects Athens International Airport with central Athens. The airport ticket costs €9 one way or €16 return, with the return journey valid within 30 days. It also allows transfers to other eligible public transport services within 90 minutes of first validation.

By airport express bus
Airport Express buses connect the airport with key locations across Athens. The X95 service runs to Syntagma Square, in the heart of the city centre. A one-way ticket costs €5.50.

City transport tickets
Athens has an integrated network of metro, buses, trolleybuses and tram. The standard 90-minute ticket costs €1.20 and a 24-hour ticket €4.10. A 3-day tourist ticket (€20) is also available and includes one return journey to and from the airport by metro or Airport Express bus.

Contactless payment
Tap a compatible contactless bank card, smartphone or smartwatch at the validator when entering the metro or boarding a bus, trolleybus or tram. There is no need to buy an ATH.ENA Ticket separately. ATH.ENA Tickets remain available at ticket counters and vending machines.
